REVIEW: He + She by Michelle Warren

“Every second I’m with you, I feel like a better person. You make me believe it’s possible that I can move on from every mistake I’ve ever made and live in your world.”

I was absolutely excited for this one.

Unfortunately, it has fallen below my expectation, which is why I decided not to finish it.

Becauuusseee..

I got bored. Really bored. I think it's because I'm so used to reading fast paced ones, so guess it's why I could not get into this. I didn't put any ratings on it, because I know it is going to be unfair if I did. But I will, however, be reviewing the parts that I was able to read.

Here it goes

She was a runaway bride.

He was fixing his past.

They met in San Francisco.

They spent time together without knowing who the other person was.

They enjoyed each others company.
Their plan was just to have a good time but something happened that they weren't expecting.

They fell for each other.

Let me just make it clear, this book is not bad. I think it was written well, but it's just not my thing. Let me enumerate the things I found good and bad.

Thumbs up:

1. I LOVE THE COVER! I am a total sucker for books that have an awesome cover.

2. The whole concept about randomly meeting someone and not knowing who they are but then falling in love. It did remind me a bit of Serendipity, which was why I picked it up.

3. It started out really well for me. The writing, as far as I went, was pretty good. No punctuation issues. No grammea errors. No spelling mistakes.

Thumbs down:

So here are some of the things, that I could remember, that bothered me about this book. I'm not sure if it was just me, but a lot of people really liked this.

1. Insta-love Oh MY FUCKING GOD! I hate that. Insta-love is just not my thing. It is not realistic. You spent one day with a girl and you think she's the best thing that ever happened to you? No. Just no.

The truth is, I want to be more than friends with this girl, no matter what's happened to her in Maryland and who is waiting for her there. It's not fair, but i'm too into her to turn back now. WWWHHHHAATTT????!!! I'll do whatever it takes to get her to agree to another day with me.

That is the biggest bullshit I've heard in my entire life. You guys have to agree with me, that you don't just fall in love with someone on day 1. You are attracted, yes, but to say "you're too into her to turn back?", that is insane. Those types of attraction/relationship rarely ends well. Just because she's cute, and has a cute ass, you'll think she's the one?? NOOO! JUST NOOO

I'm not entirely revolted by people having a love-at-first-sight feeling. There are instances that I am absolutely crazy over it, but it just didn't work for this story. Sorry.

2. The pacing of the story was too slow for me. It felt a bit dragging. It started out really well though.

3. HE or Hew or whatever his name is. I didn't like him AT ALL. Usually, I'd hate the girl but would be okay with the male character but on this one, I kinda like SHE more (whatever her name is).

4. NO CHEMISTRY! I didn't feel anything at all towards these characters. I was kind of hoping it would build up a bit but after 40%, I just had to stop before I kill myself.

There might be other stuff, but I don't have the patience to go through with it anymore. I just felt there are far more interesting books than this.

I am so sorry. I wanted to like it.. But, I just really can't. So sorry.

  1. Instalove makes me crazy too! There are a few instances where the author can make it work, but they are VERY few and far between!

  2. So true @Nicole. Some works, but this one just sucked! There was no connection. It feels a bit hurried to me.
